The 3 yes's and 3 no's of skin recovery! Lesson 3: Topical Products
Many people believe in misconceptions regarding wound care, and some of those misconceptions include old myths that do more harm than good. Here, we are going to get to the bottom of what can and cannot actually be used when caring for wounds.
The 3 Yes's :
1. Saline :
saline is recommended for cleaning wounds
2. Antibiotic ointment prescribed by a doctor (but not all wounds require this).
3. Advanced colostrum peptide complexes :
The most important thing in caring for a wound is to enhance the skin's ability to fight inflammation and promote healing. Advanced colostrum peptide complexes can provide a great deal of healing power to wounds.
The 3 No's :
1. Povidone-iodine :
All disinfectants have some degree of toxicity and can make wounds too dry, which is not conducive to healing. If the wound is not infected, we recommend using saline to rinse and clean the wound before dressing it.
2. Unfamiliar ointments :
Ointments that have been left in the house for a long time may cause secondary infections.
3. Hydrogen peroxide :
While hydrogen peroxide disinfects wounds, it also harms the white blood cells that heal the wound, so its usage is not recommended.
